4 Mistakes I’d Never Do to My Scalp (As a Scalp Care Specialist) 👀

There are a lot of hair habits that are normalized… but from a scalp perspective? They don’t make sense.

The things I would never do to my scalp

1. Sleep in Heavy Oils 😴
I know this one is everywhere.
“Leave it overnight”
“Deep nourish”
“Wake up with healthier hair”
But here’s the reality. Heavy oils sitting on the scalp for hours can:
→ clog follicles
→ trap buildup
→ disrupt the scalp environment

2. Overuse Dry Shampoo 🧴
Dry shampoo isn’t the enemy. Overusing it is.
Layering it day after day without properly cleansing your scalp?
That’s how you get:

Use it when you need it. Not as a lifestyle.
3. Rush Through Shampooing 🚿
This one is a big one.
Most people spend more time choosing a shampoo than actually using it properly.
If you’re washing your scalp in under a minute… You’re not really cleansing it.
A proper shampoo
should take time.
Think 👉 3–5 min.
About one full song.

4. Treat My Hair but Ignore My Scalp 🌿
This is the most common scalp care mistake. People invest in masks, oils, styling products…
But never stop to ask: What does my scalp actually need?
