You’re Probably Shampooing Wrong (And Your Scalp Knows It)

Let’s just say it: Most people aren’t shampooing correctly.
Not because you don’t care.
But because no one actually teaches you how.
And if your hair has been feeling flatter, oilier, or thinner lately… this might be why.

Because shampoo isn’t about your hair
It’s about your scalp health
🌿
Shampoo Is for Your Scalp — Not Your Ends
Here’s the first shift:
Shampoo cleans skin. Not hair.
Your scalp produces oil.
Your scalp collects buildup.
Your scalp houses the follicle.
When follicles are congested, growth slows down. It’s not “bad hair.” It’s an overloaded root system.
The 4 Mistakes I See Every Week 👀
Straight from real consultations.
1️⃣ You’re Not Shampooing Twice
The first cleanse breaks down oil. The second cleanse actually cleans.
If it barely lathers the first time? That’s buildup talking.
2️⃣ You’re Scratching Instead of Massaging
Use the pads of your fingers — not your nails. Think circulation boost, not exfoliation.
Healthy circulation = stronger follicles.
3️⃣ You’re Rushing It
Shampooing your scalp should take 3–5 minutes. Minimum.
Here’s an easy tip:
🎵 Put on one full song and massage your scalp using the pads of your fingers until the song ends. Most songs last about 3–5 minutes — which is exactly how long you should be shampooing your scalp.
Unless you’re a Taylor Swift fan and you put on “All Too Well (10 Minute Version)”… in that case, your scalp is getting the deluxe treatment. 😌✨
4️⃣ You’re Layering Dry Shampoo
Dry shampoo extends a style. It does not replace cleansing.
Layering it repeatedly can suffocate follicles over time.

Sometimes the scalp needs a deeper reset.
Hard water. Hormones. Product layering. Stress.
That’s when professional treatments make the difference.
